When we were first dreaming up Woodley + Lowe, we knew our goal was to design pieces that would solve a few problems we noticed and experienced firsthand, from sizing to waste to the way brands talk to their communities. On top of that, it was and is important to us to be mindful of how our operations impact the planet, so, in addition to our ongoing efforts to become even more sustainable as we scale, we created our Giveback Pledge.
What does the pledge actually mean?
It means we promise to give 3% of our revenue each year to causes that are important to our local and global communities, regardless of whether or not we make a profit that year. So, for every $100 you spend with us, $3 automatically goes towards helping others.
Where does the 3% go?
We did a lot of research to find organizations benefiting causes that are really important to us (and we hope you agree). For one, we are proud partners of 1% for the Planet, an organization that collects and distributes funds to a diverse group of environmental organizations, so we can help protect the resources that we are using to build our business and guarantee a brighter future for everyone.
Gender equality and empowering women and girls are also of utmost importance to us. We are currently supporting Movemeant Foundation, a group that makes exercise accessible and positive by focusing on body acceptance and health rather than outdated standards. In addition to monetary contributions through our pledge, we are gifting apparel to participants in their programs and look forward to sponsoring events together in the future.
Last but not least, we are passionate about supporting social justice issues and equal rights for all. We pledge to support organizations that fight for LGBTQIA+ rights, racial equality, and other imperative causes today.
What do you think?
We’ve told you what we find most pressing, now it’s your turn! Send us an email telling us the overall causes or specific organizations you want to bring to our attention. We’ll look into it and let you know if it’s something we can add to the list. The best way to move forward is by working together, so if you have any ideas on how we can be better global citizens, we'd love to hear them!
